Most people aren't willing to focus on something for 5 years when the pay-off is not obvious.

I would advise people to work on something for at least a year then look back and see if you are making progress.

It's enough time to reflect even if it isn't enough time to be successful.

Look at you writing or your golf swing a year ago and compare it to today.

Is it going in the right direction. Do you need to make some changes to your training or do you obviously not have the ability.

Chances are most of us will realize that if we just put in a little more effort everyday, our goal is achievable.
